TIPS TO EFFECTIVE SAVING
1. Know the difference between NEEDS and WANTS
In basic terms, Needs are the important things in your life, things that we can't do without. They are things that are required for survival. On the other hand, wants are just the extra things which as humans, we desire to have but more or less, we can survive without them.
Now for a practical example, food is a need. We need to eat to survive but then, that daily dosage of shawarma is just a want, that pizza is really not necessary, if you don't drink that ice cream you won't die.
To save effectively, you have to identify the needs and wants in your life and once you've done that you begin to weigh your decisions and make more sensible choices.
Imagine making that choice to go home and eat that jollof rice in the fridge rather than buying that grilled chicken. Just think about the extra cash you've saved.
I've learnt how to say NO to certain things and that has helped me greatly.
I’ve learnt to ask myself certain questions.
I really hope you try it.
Kindly note: this does not in any way mean you should never buy pizza, shawarma etc again, just reduce it to the barest minimum. I’m all for rewarding and enjoying yourself.
