2 To my mummy

Dear Folà mí my shade,

Let me start this by saying I love you.

You always said that you made a promise to yourself that your children will never experience what you went through while growing up, well mummy I’m glad to tell you that you succeeded in that.

Words will not be sufficient to appreciate you for everything. But today, through this letter, I want you to know that you mean a whole lot to me.
Thanks for all the sleepless night just to ensure we had company while we were reading, thanks for all the parties and celebrations, you always went all out to ensure we had an amazing childhood. Thanks for teaching me Independence. Thanks for tolerating all my tantrums. Thanks for doing all those chores and several cooking even tho you clearly enjoy doing it.

In you I learnt what it means to be a person of value. Thanks for giving me a picture of the sort of woman I’ll want to be: independent, valuable, powerful, generous, and much more.

You are so strict yet so loving, the way you care is second to none.
You have instilled very important lessons in me.

I’m glad I was raised by such a great woman as you.
I’m sorry it seems we disagree on many issues, well you showed me how to be strong willed.

So mummy, I hope this letter serves as a reminder on days when you feel unappreciated or unneeded that I appreciate you and I love you.

Much love
Ebunoluwa Okeowo.
