RANDOM SHORT STORY!

I had just put the last batch of cupcakes in the oven when I heard the doorbell ring. I went to answer it and I saw the post man with a parcel. He said hello and I responded and then he asked if he was at 1313 State Street Santa Barbara, I was almost irritated because the address was clearly written on the door but I just nodded And then he proceeded to ask if I was Ms. Saylor Rodgers of Sweet Cheeks CupCakery. I replied that he was correct and then he handed me the parcel and asked that I signed.

After I had done that he left.
I looked at it and wondered what could be in it and who it was from Cos it was quite heavy and I had not made any purchases in recent times.

I sat down and proceeded to open it and you can imagine the shock on my face when I opened the envelop attached to it and saw an invitation letter.

It couldn’t be possible.... Peter? getting married? I was dumbfounded, but really, what did I expect? For him to wait for me forever even though I was the one that had broken off our engagement just one week to the set date 6 months ago.

So many thoughts went through my mind at that moment; why did he want me to be there? why was he doing this? Perhaps to rub it in my face that he had moved on, or to show me that he could have a life without me in it.
I quickly dismissed the thoughts.

I guess I’m probably overthinking it and maybe all he wanted was to make me realize that what I did was all in the past and he had forgiven me. Well that would be it Cos Peter was a good man. He had shown it countless times in the past and he deserved to be happy but that didn’t stop me from feeling some kind of way. I was about to open the box to see what else he had sent when the alarm on the oven went off, reminding me that this was the life I had fought for and eventually chosen and I had nothing to be sorry for.
